The introduction includes a description of the corporation, starting with its history in the United States (US). The corporate legal structure is described with a focus on how limited liability allows for and encourages the externalization of costs. Examples of the global consequences, including externalized costs, to environmental and human health resulting from the corporate legal structure are presented. Growing global corporate power is described as it relates to a neoliberal philosophy and political agenda in the US, where the majority of multinational corporations are registered. Global trade policy and transnational feminism are discussed as they relate to marketing and women’s health. Chapter topics and short author biographies are provided.
